Positive Guidelines for Maintaining The Akidamy School of Early Learning

    Background

To support a professional, safe, and inspiring environment for all, educators are kindly asked to follow these best practices in keeping studios, foyers, hallways, and pin-up spaces clear and clutter-free.

    Celebrate Clean Aesthetic

    • Keep walls, windows, window ledges, glass doors, and shared spaces free from visual clutter to maintain a calm, professional atmosphere for children and visitors.
    • Keep the office area free of cluttered paperwork so that it appears clean and tidy as parents walk by to collect their children.
    • Keep hallways free from obstruction to maintain safety regulations.

Use Designated Display Areas and Keep Them Unique.

    • Showcase children's work, ideas, and important notices on approved pin-up boards and display surfaces. These areas are designed to highlight creativity while preserving the integrity of our walls and windows. Avoid too many items to prevent visual noise.
    • Keep documentation simple and avoid using template websites like “Twinkl” or Similar standards; brand guidelines are essential and available on Canva and PDF documents. Ensure that the information is relevant to children and families.
    • All electrical cords and cables should be rolled up and fixed with Velcro or cable ties.
    • Place a black border around photos or posters of a 5 mm width. Check regularly that items are fixed professionally on all displays to reflect professionalism and the importance of what is being showcased.

Avoid Tape and Adhesives on Surfaces

    • Please refrain from using tape, Blu Tack, or adhesives directly on walls, windows, and doors, as they can cause long-term damage and compromise the studio’s presentation. Instead, use frames to display essential information, such as staff photos and the number of children participating in excursions outside the building.
    • In the office area, use the clear Perspex frames to display information like the Certificate of Currency, Akidamy menus and school policy QR codes.
    • Ensure that the front office is welcoming, with the coffee table clear of clutter. Avoid putting signs/posters up in studio windows. Bluetac is not to be used on pinboards.

    Keep Hallways and Foyers Clear

    • Ensure that all bags, projects, furniture, and materials are stored away neatly and not left in hallways, foyers, or benches.

    Model Professional Presentation

    • Encourage children to take pride in their surroundings by modelling tidy, respectful use of space—this supports positive habits and enhances the studio's creative energy.
    • Empower children to help maintain studio standards by involving them in clean-up routines and display planning, drawing from O-Soji.

    Use Approved Fixtures Only

    • For hanging posters or notices, use approved Velcro clips, frames, or bulletin boards. If unsure, please ask the School Director or Educational Leader for guidance.

    Schedule Regular Check-ins

    • Make it a habit to review your studio and nearby shared spaces weekly to ensure everything remains tidy, organised, and aligned with our shared standards. Use 1place checklists to keep yourself and the team accountable.

    Celebrate Minimalism

    • Embrace a ‘less is more’ approach—highlighting key words and anecdotes ensures they receive the attention they deserve without overwhelming the space. This can improve children's focus and observations relevant to

    Look After the Plants

    • Plants add life and calm to our shared spaces. Please:
    • Check the soil regularly and water as needed (most plants prefer slightly moist, not soggy, soil).
    • Gently remove any dead leaves.
    • Make sure plants receive adequate light by keeping blinds open during the day.
    • Report any unhealthy-looking plants to the studio coordinator, or help refresh them together as a learning experience.
