Filling out BAS from xero

    Check payroll is up to date for the quarter

    Make sure that all payroll is completed right up until and beyond (if applicable) the end of quarter

    Reconcile all transactions for mastercard and bank account

    Don't forget any items needing to be manually claimed.

    Run the 'Activity Statement' Report

    It is a favourite report and shown in the Reports drop down menu.

    Publish as draft your results Business Activity Statement

    We need to circle back and fill in T7 the PAYG Installment amount.
    However if you already have your estimated amount known skip the rest and just fill that one in.

    Visit the ATO website

    Using Internet Explorer / Safari on a computer with certificates installed

    bp.ato.gov.au/

    You can do this on the windows VM or Mac OSX

    Log in with your credentials

    Beware that the same password must be used across all accounts on the same computer.

    Visit the activity statement link

    Click on the current activity statement link

    Copy the T7 PAYG installment amount

    Back into the xero BAS statement and then publish the statement if the totals agree.

    Approve Draft Bill in Xero

    Go to the draft bill and add 'Income Tax Expense' as the account for the PAYG income tax instalment

    then set a due date for tomorrow and click 'Approve'

    This will make reconciling easy later.
