Recording PSSE video

  1. Open VirtualBox

Virtualbox in ubuntu has windows 7, PSSE and Python installed.

Make the screen small kind of like the size you would eventually like to show it.

Make sure that the dongle is attached to the virtualbox instance
  2. Run video recording software

    $ gtk-recordmydesktop

Set the record area to be your virtualbox screen.

    and begin recording
  3. Once complete

Stop the recording. The output file is called out.ogv.

Screenflow can't use ogv files so we'll use another program to transcode it to mp4
  4. Transcode to mp4

    Run arista transcoder

Select the out.ogv source and the device preset to "Computer -H.264"
  5. Transfer to the mac for screenflow

    Run the scp command:

    scp out.mp4 jervis@192.168.1.103:

You should then have the file in your mac's home directory.
  6. ScreenFlow editing

    Create a new screenflow document

    Edit the canvas size to:

    1280 x 720

    Apply changes.

Insert -> Choose, and select the mp4 file you just uploaded to the mac.

(hint use the same template file as the last one. So that you can keep the intro music and outro text)
  7. export mov

Export the video as a .mov

    Scale by 100%
  8. Add to youtube

    Upload the video to Youtube,

    then

    1. Add it to the whit blog with the categories: video and tutorial

    2. Add it to the end of the Mailchimp drip marketing campaign.
