Blended Course Timeline & Process

      Teacher Request

      A teacher will:

      • A teacher considering making a course blended, should review the Blended Learning Handbook for Staff to ensure they understand the purpose, processes, and expectations to offer a blended course.

      • At least 4 weeks before course request forms are developed for students, meet with their school principal and Instructional Coach to discuss making a course blended; consult the list of blended courses to determine if a course has already had curriculum developed to be blended.

      • If the principal supports the course becoming blended, the teacher must contact counterparts at the other high school to determine if there is interest in offering and developing the course as blended.

      Principal Notification to CO

      A principal will:
      • At least two weeks before course request forms are developed for students, share 

      request to build a blended course with the Chief Strategy Officer in order to secure stipend funding for teacher(s) per MOU/CBA.

      Chief Strategy Officer verify funding

      The Chief Strategy Officer will:
      • At least one week before course request forms are developed for students, verify if 

      funding is available to support stipend for teacher(s) per CBA.


    4. 4

      Blended course requests & master schedule

      The 11 month Assistant Principal/Master Scheduler will:
      • Ensure course is listed as a blended course in the course request form for students to 

      select.

      • After course requests are finalized, determine if the blended version of the course has sufficient course requests for it to run in the following year.

      • Notify the teacher, instructional coach, principal, and Chief Strategy Officer of the

      blended course status.

      • As much as possible, schedule blended courses at the beginning or end of the day


    5. 5

      Blended Training

      The instructional coaches will:
      • Schedule and conduct teacher training for teachers developing new blended courses as well as teachers offering a blended course for the first time.

      • Invite the Chief Strategy Officer to attend the training to review the stipend process per CBA

    6. 6

      Stipend Tracking Form

      The Chief Strategy Officer will: 
      • Develop stipend tracking form for each new blended course, share with building principal(s) and finance office 

      • Update Blended Course Development Tracker to include the new course(s)


      The Principal, Teacher, & Instructional Coach will:
      • Follow the CBA expectations and timelines for developing a new blended course offering
