Before accessing your share information, it's crucial to identify which share registrar manages your shares. This can typically be determined by checking your dividend statements or CHESS statements. Here’s how:
1. Check Your Dividend Statements:
- Look at the top or bottom of your dividend statements.
- The registrar's name (Link Market Services or Computershare) will usually be mentioned along with their contact details.
2. Review Your CHESS Statements:- If you receive CHESS statements, the share registrar's name will be indicated on these documents.
- CHESS statements are provided if your shares are held electronically in the CHESS system (Commonwealth Securities Settlement System).
3. Online Search:
- If you're unsure, you can search online for the company whose shares you own, followed by “share registrar” to find out which service (Link or Computershare) is associated with them.
For example in a google search for Telstra, type 'Telstra share register' and search. The results should yield something similar to the below to guide you to the correct location.
