Fire Evacuation Checklist

Prepare yourself for the fire evacuation:
• Familiarize yourself with the names and locations of your building fire warden and nearest floor fire wardens.
• Familiarize yourself with the identity and location of the first aid officers and first aid kits.
• Familiarize yourself with the location of any fire alarms in your building.
• Note the location of fire extinguishers.
• Know the location of emergency exits in your building.
• Plan an escape route from your premises to each exit of the structure.

    Stay where you are.

    Keep calm and stay where you are, awaiting the second fire alarm signal or cancellation of the fire alarm.

    Do not try returning to your permanent workplace.

    Recall what to do next and how to do it.

    Recall the evacuation routes and assembly points applicable to your current location.

    What equipment has been left unattended?

    Recall what dangerous/operating equipment has been left unattended in your workplace or needs to be turned off due to extensive fire danger.

    You must inform the fire warden of these issues as soon as you reach the assembly point.

    Inspect your pockets.

    Check if your ID, badge, mobile phone, bank cards, and wallet are with you.

    Do not try to reach them if you left them somewhere.

    Stay where you are.

    Keep calm and stay in your workplace, awaiting the second fire alarm signal or cancellation of the fire alarm.

    Prepare your workplace to be left unattended, as follows:

    • Shut down computers.

    • Turn off the gas and electrical equipment if safe to do so. If any dangerous equipment has been left operating, you must inform the fire warden of these issues as soon as you reach the assembly point.

    • Collect your ID, badge, mobile phone, bank cards, and wallet, if possible and safe.

    Recall what to do next.

    Recall the evacuation routes and assembly points applicable to your current location.

    Proceed with fire evacuation.

    If the  second fire alarm sounds, evacuate from the current building/structure per the local fire evacuation plan:

    • Move calmly to the assembly point or other advised area.

    • Closely follow the instructions of emergency services personnel and fire wardens.

    • Close the fire doors as you go--do not lock them.

    • Assist any person in immediate danger.

    • Leave the building via the nearest safe route.

    • Stay at the assembly point and obey all directions from fire wardens.

    What equipment has been left unattended?

    Inform the fire warden about dangerous/operating equipment left unattended at your workplace immediately after reaching the assembly point.

    You are at the assembly point. Now what?

    Stay at the assembly point until the all-clear signal has been given.

    When to continue regular operation?

    Wait for permission from the fire warden to return to the building and continue a regular operation.

    Continue regular operation.
