It is the desire of the Board of Education to establish an educational environment which ensures that every student will receive the opportunity to learn to his/her potential.  Administrators and teachers prepare a learning environment which meets the needs, interests, and learning styles of students.  The focus of the school system shall be upon the student and his/her total development.

 

We recognize that each child is an individual and that he/she grows and learns at his/her own rate.  Each child's progress is monitored on a continuing basis throughout the year.  This information is shared with parents/guardians through phone calls, written notes, special reports, report cards and conferences.  Phone calls and written notes occur on an as-needed basis. Parent-teacher conferences give parents and teachers an opportunity to share information that will facilitate appropriate planning for the child's progress. 

Elementary
Each trimester students receive a report card which includes the current level of performance demonstrated in a variety of subject areas.

• Subject areas include: Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, PE, and Habits of Work
•  Scores are based off of a 4, 3, 2, 1 system: 4= Exceeds the standard, 3= Mastery of thestandard, 2= Approaching the standard, 1= Partial knowledge of the standard w/assistance
• There are not overall letter grades (A, B, C, D, F)

Middle School/High School

Grades for courses will be available throughout the school year and will be finalized and reported at the end of each semester. 

• Grades are determined by a percentage based system

  • Letter grades will be given using the following scale:

    • A: 90% - 100%

    • B: 80% - 89%

    • C: 70% - 79%

    • D: 60% - 69%

    • F: Below a 60%

The decision to promote a student to the next grade level shall be based on successful completion of the curriculum, attendance, and performance on achievement tests administered by the district.  A student shall not be promoted based on age or any other social reason not related to academic performance.  Promotion decisions regarding students receiving special education services, 504 accommodations, or who have other recognized learning problems shall be based on Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) or approved modifications in the curriculum. Consultation with the parent/guardian throughout the school year will be maintained and documented when educational progress is not satisfactory.  The final decision regarding the need for supplemental education outside the regular school day or school year and the student's promotion to the next grade shall be the responsibility of the Building Principal.

Reconocemos que cada niño es un individuo y que crece y aprende a su propio ritmo.  El progreso de cada niño se supervisa de forma continua a lo largo del año.  Esta información se comparte con los padres/tutores a través de llamadas telefónicas, notas escritas, informes especiales, tarjetas de calificaciones y conferencias.  Las llamadas telefónicas y las notas escritas se producen según las necesidades. Las conferencias entre padres y maestros dan a los padres y a los maestros la oportunidad de compartir información que facilitará la planificación adecuada para el progreso del niño. 

Primaria

Cada trimestre los estudiantes reciben una tarjeta de calificaciones que incluye el nivel actual de rendimiento demostrado en una variedad de áreas de estudio.

• Las áreas de estudio incluyen: Lectura/Artes del Lenguaje, Matemáticas, Ciencias, Estudios Sociales, Arte, Música, Educación Física y Hábitos de Trabajo.
•  Las puntuaciones se basan en un sistema de 4, 3, 2, 1 4=Supera el estándar, 3= Domina el estándar, 2= Se acerca al estándar, 1= Entendimiento parcial del estándar con ayuda
• No hay calificaciones globales con letras (A, B, C, D, F))

Secundaria/Preparatoria (Middle School/High School

Las calificaciones de los cursos estarán disponibles a lo largo del año escolar y se finalizarán e informarán al final de cada semestre. 

• Las calificaciones se determinan mediante un sistema basado en porcentajes

  • Las calificaciones con letras se darán utilizando la siguiente escala:

    • A: 90% - 100%

    • B: 80% - 89%

    • C: 70% - 79%

    • D: 60% - 69%

      La decisión de promover a un estudiante al siguiente nivel de grado se basará en la finalización exitosa del plan de estudios, la asistencia y el desempeño en las pruebas de rendimiento administradas por el distrito.  No se promocionará a un alumno por su edad o por cualquier otra razón social no relacionada con el rendimiento académico.  Las decisiones de promoción relativas a los alumnos que reciben servicios de educación especial, adaptaciones 504 o que tienen otros problemas de aprendizaje reconocidos se basarán en los Planes Educativos Individualizados (IEP) o en las modificaciones aprobadas en el plan de estudios. Se mantendrán y documentarán las consultas con los padres/tutores a lo largo del año escolar cuando el progreso educativo no sea satisfactorio.  La decisión final sobre la necesidad de una educación suplementaria fuera de la jornada escolar o del año escolar regular y la promoción del estudiante al siguiente nivel de grado será responsabilidad del Director del Plantel Escolar.
