All kindergarten through 12th grade students living 1-1.5 miles or more from school or reside in an area deemed to be a serious safety hazard, are designated by the State of Illinois as eligible for transportation (subject to change per Illinois State Code).  

Students can only ride the bus to which they are assigned.  Deviations from the regular schedule must be approved by the Chief Financial Officer. Transportation of students is a contracted service provided by First Student (815-544-9766 or 815-544-1571) within the Belvidere CUSD 100.

 

In order to ensure safe transportation of all students riding District 100 buses, it is necessary that certain standards of proper behavior be adhered to by the students while they are on the bus.  We view misconduct on the school bus as a most serious kind of behavior due to the safety of the other passengers.  Misconduct while riding the bus can warrant interruption or loss of riding privileges and/or suspension from school.  When a bus driver writes up a student for misconduct, the parent will be notified either by phone or by mail.  The Building Principal and/or district’s transportation provider will take appropriate action with regard to any bus misconduct.  Such action can include, but not be limited to, removal of the student from riding the bus to and/or from school or suspension from school.  We hope that all parents will take time to discuss these rules with their children and to emphasize the importance of abiding by such rules for the safety of all passengers on the bus.  The Board of Education has approved the use of cameras on buses to monitor the behavior of students. Video cameras may be active on buses to record student conduct and may be used for the purposes of investigation into misconduct or accidents on the bus.While students are on the bus, they are under the supervision of the bus driver. In most cases, bus discipline problems can be handled by the bus driver. In the case of a written disciplinary referral, student bus problems will be investigated and handled by the building principal.

In the interest of the student’s safety, district protocols and in compliance with State law, students are also expected to observe the following:

1. Students are expected to be at their designated bus stop 5 (five) minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time

2. Dress properly for the weather. Make sure all drawstrings, ties, straps, etc. on all clothing, backpacks and other items, are shortened or removed to lessen the likelihood of them getting caught in bus doors, railings or aisles.

3. Arrive on time at the bus stop, and stay away from the street while waiting for the bus.

4. Stay away from the bus until it stops completely and the driver signals you to board. Enter a single file line without pushing. Always use the handrail.

5. Take a seat right away and remain seated facing forward. Keep your hands, arms, and head inside the bus.

6. Talk quietly on the bus. No shouting or creating loud noises that may distract the driver. Tablets, iPods®, iPads®, smart phones, and other electronic devices must be silenced on the bus unless a student uses headphones.

7. Help keep the bus neat and clean. Keep belongings out of the aisle and away from emergency exits. Eating and drinking are not allowed on the bus.

8. Always listen to the driver’s instructions. Be courteous to the driver and other students. Sit with your hands to yourself and avoid making noises that would distract the driver or bother other passengers. Remain seated, keeping your hands, arms, and head inside the bus at all times.

9. Wait until the bus pulls to a complete stop before standing up. Use the handrail when exiting the bus.

10. Stay out of the danger zone next to the bus where the driver may have difficulty seeing you. Take five giant steps away from the bus and out of the danger zone, until you can see the driver and the driver sees you. Never crawl under a bus.

11. If you must cross the street after you get off the bus, wait for the driver’s signal and then cross in front of the bus. Cross the street only after checking both ways for traffic.

12. Never run back to the bus, even if you dropped or forgot something.

13. Students are expected to be at their designated bus stop 5 (five) minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time.

14. Stay at least 6 feet behind the spot where the bus stops for pickups.  Do not crowd to be first on the bus.  Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before moving toward the bus.

15. Students will not be allowed to ride home on another bus unless the Building Principal or designee grants permission.

16. If a student moves, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to contact the school to change a bus stop location.

17. No smoking, vapring or lighting of matches will be permitted at any time.

18. In the event of an emergency, remain in your seat until instructions are given by the driver.

19. Do not ask the driver to stop at places other than the regular bus stops.  Bus drivers are not permitted to do this except with proper authorization from a school administrator.

20. Students are expected to enter/exit the bus at the assigned location unless prior permission has been granted.

21. The seat occupied and the back of the seat in front of the student are his/her responsibility.  Cost of repairs for vandalism will be paid by the student.  Students can be assigned seats on their morning and afternoon runs.

Los estudiantes sólo pueden viajar en el autobús al que están asignados.  Las desviaciones del horario regular deben ser aprobadas por el Director de Finanzas.  El transporte de los estudiantes es un servicio contratado con: First Student (815-544-9766 o 815-544-1571) por el Distrito Escolar 100 de Belvidere. 

Para garantizar un transporte seguro de todos los estudiantes que viajan en los autobuses del Distrito 100, es necesario que se cumplan ciertas normas de comportamiento adecuado por parte de los estudiantes mientras están en el autobús.  Consideramos que la conducta indebida en el autobús escolar es un tipo de comportamiento muy grave debido a la seguridad de los demás pasajeros.  La conducta incorrecta mientras se viaja en el autobús puede justificar la interrupción o la pérdida de los privilegios de viajar y/o la suspensión de la escuela.  Cuando un conductor de autobús sancione a un estudiante por conducta indebida, se notificará a los padres por teléfono o por correo.  El director del plantel escolar y/o el proveedor de transporte del distrito tomarán las medidas apropiadas con respecto a cualquier conducta indebida en el autobús.  Dicha acción puede incluir, pero no limitarse a, la remoción del estudiante de viajar en el autobús hacia y/o desde la escuela o la suspensión de la escuela.  Esperamos que todos los padres de familia se tomen el tiempo de discutir estas reglas con sus hijos y de enfatizar la importancia de acatar dichas reglas para la seguridad de todos los pasajeros del autobús.  La Junta de Educación ha aprobado el uso de cámaras en los autobuses para controlar el comportamiento de los estudiantes. Las cámaras de vídeo pueden estar activas en los autobuses para grabar la conducta de los estudiantes y pueden utilizarse con el fin de investigar la conducta indebida o los accidentes en el autobús. Mientras los estudiantes están en el autobús, están bajo la supervisión del conductor del autobús. En la mayoría de los casos, los problemas de disciplina en el autobús pueden ser manejados por el conductor del mismo. En el caso de una orden disciplinaria por escrito, los problemas de los alumnos en el autobús serán investigados y manejados por el director del plantel escolar.

En interés de la seguridad del estudiante, de los protocolos del distrito y en cumplimiento de la ley estatal, también se espera que los estudiantes observen lo siguiente:

1. Se espera que los estudiantes estén en su parada de autobús designada 5 (cinco) minutos antes de la hora de recogida programada.
   
   
2. Vístase adecuadamente para el clima. Asegúrese de que todos los tirantes, corbatas, correas, etc. de toda la ropa, mochilas y otros artículos, estén ajustados o retirados para reducir la probabilidad de que se queden atrapados en las puertas, barandillas o pasillos del autobús
   
   
3. Llegue a tiempo a la parada del autobús y manténgase alejado de la calle mientras espera el autobús.
   
   
4. Aléjese del autobús hasta que se detenga por completo y el conductor le indique que puede subir. Entre en una sola fila sin empujar. Utilice siempre el pasamanos
   
   
5. Siéntese de inmediato y permanezca sentado mirando al frente. Mantenga las manos, los brazos y la cabeza dentro del autobús.
   
   
6. Hable en voz baja en el autobús. No grite ni cree ruidos fuertes que puedan distraer al conductor. Las tabletas, iPods®, iPads®, teléfonos inteligentes y otros dispositivos electrónicos deben estar silenciados en el autobús, a menos que el estudiante utilice audífonos.
   
   
7. Ayude a mantener el autobús ordenado y limpio. Mantenga sus pertenencias fuera del pasillo y lejos de las salidas de emergencia. No se permite comer ni beber en el autobús.
   
   
8. Escuche siempre las instrucciones del conductor. Sea cortés con el conductor y los demás estudiantes. Siéntese con las manos quietas y evite hacer ruidos que puedan distraer al conductor o molestar a otros pasajeros. Permanezca sentado, manteniendo las manos, los brazos y la cabeza dentro del autobús en todo momento.
   
   
9. Espere a que el autobús se detenga por completo antes de ponerse de pie. Utilice el pasamanos al salir del autobús.
   
   
10. Manténgase fuera de la zona de peligro junto al autobús, donde el conductor puede tener dificultades para verle. Dé cinco pasos gigantescos para alejarse del autobús y salir de la zona de peligro, hasta que pueda ver al conductor y éste le vea a usted. Nunca se arrastre por debajo de un autobús.
    
    
11. Si tiene que cruzar la calle después de bajar del autobús, espere la señal del conductor y luego cruce por delante del autobús. Cruce la calle sólo después de haber observado el tráfico en ambos sentidos.
    
    
12. Nunca vuelva corriendo al autobús, aunque se le haya caído u olvidado algo.
    
    
13. Se espera que los estudiantes estén en su parada de autobús designada 5 (cinco) minutos antes de la hora de recogida programada
    
    
14. Manténgase al menos 6 pies detrás del lugar donde el autobús se detiene para ser recogido.  No se aglomeren para ser el primero en subir al autobús.  Espere a que el autobús se detenga completamente antes de avanzar hacia él.
    
    
15. No se permitirá a los estudiantes volver a casa en otro autobús a menos que el director del plantel escolar o la persona designada conceda el permiso. 
    
    
16. Si un alumno se cambia de domicilio, es responsabilidad del padre/tutor ponerse en contacto con la escuela para cambiar la ubicación de la parada del autobús.
    
    
17. No se permitirá fumar, fumar cigarrillos de vapor o encender fósforos en ningún momento.
    
    
18. En caso de emergencia, permanezca en su asiento hasta que el conductor le dé instrucciones.
    
    
19. No pida al conductor que se detenga en lugares distintos a las paradas habituales del autobús.  Los conductores de autobús no están autorizados a hacerlo, salvo con la debida autorización de un administrador de la escuela.
    
    
20. Se espera que los estudiantes entren/salgan del autobús en el lugar asignado, a menos que se haya concedido un permiso previo.
    
    
21. El asiento ocupado y el respaldo del asiento de enfrente son responsabilidad del estudiante.  El costo de las reparaciones por vandalismo será pagado por el estudiante.  A los estudiantes se les pueden asignar asientos en los trayectos de la mañana y de la tarde.
