    Your Beal Wellness Providers

The Beal Wellness provider team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and masters-level therapists.

    What's the difference?

Psychiatrists are physicians (medical doctors) who use medication to treat your symptoms. Psychologists and therapists use therapy to help you talk through your problems.

Sometimes, a combination of therapy and medication works best. In that case, patients see a psychiatrist for medication management and a therapist for talk therapy.

Psychologists and psychiatrists both have doctoral degrees, usually a PhD or PsyD for psychologists and an MD or DO for psychiatrists. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) are medical providers with advanced degrees who deliver psychiatric care under the guidance of a psychiatrist. Our masters level therapy providers have masters degrees in counseling, social work, or family and marital counseling.

    Choosing Your Medical Team:

At Beal Wellness, Dr. Beal is everyone’s doctor–he is responsible for the care of every single patient. Because he has to balance his time with all patients, you will not meet with Dr. Beal at every appointment; he has "physician extenders" so that he can provide timely care for all patients. The list of medical providers you may see includes physician extenders such as Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. Please remember that Dr. Beal personally hired each of his extenders because of their attention to detail and their commitment to delivering high quality care.

Due to the nature and length of medical appointments, patients typically don’t share extensive personal information or past experiences in medication management sessions. Because these appointments are focused solely on medication efficacy, all Beal Wellness providers are equipped to understand and provide excellent healthcare with respect to the patient’s race, gender, age, or religion.

When scheduling your appointment, you will be offered the choice of who you meet with, but our office does not honor requests that exclude medical providers based on race, gender, age, or religion. Patients discriminating against our medical providers based on these characteristics will be advised to seek care elsewhere.

    Choosing Your Therapy Team:

Therapy is a deeply personal experience; you will explore the impact of your beliefs, culture and childhood with a counselor. We understand that you may have preferences when it comes to choosing a therapist. We encourage you to choose a therapist that you can feel confident, comfortable and secure with. Our website has updated bios for each of our therapists; please take time to read each bio before you choose your therapist. Once you have identified the person you’d like to be your therapist, we ask that you be respectful in communicating your preferences with our staff.
